Do you know...I've read about this somewhere before...a long time ago..and there's more to the story but for the life of me I can't remember now. Aaargh...my memory gets worse as I get older.
I stumbled upon it while doing some completely unrelated research (on Carew Castle) in a very old journal. Are you sure it is the same incident? That would be a fantastic coincidence!!
Of course, I suppose it must happen a lot in time. The other day I watched the film "Pope Joan" which deals with the story (supposedly true) of a female pope. (Naturally, it was a case of secret identities too)
Yes I'm pretty sure it was the same incident. I distinctly remember that her job was something to do with the docks, and that she had been married to a woman for a long time. I really wish I could remember where I saw it. Yes...what a coincidence.
Oh the film Pope Joan sounds very interesting. Fascinating.
