360 Izmir Pasaport Dock

Pasaport Dock, Izmir Turkey in Izmir

Built in 1876,. the famous yellow dock build building was once the main entry point for the city of Izmir. Ferry boats still bring passenger from the other side of the bay every hour.  It was designed in the Turkish revival style inspired by Ottoman and Selçuk architecture. You used to be able to find coffee and tea houses which offered hookas (water pipes) for smoking lumps of raw tobacco. Take it from me, it gave you quite a head-spinning buzz. It was best to remain seated until your head came to a complete stop.
